tidbits from today I don't want to forget
We are currently snowed in, here in StL. It went from no snow on Sunday early morning to like almost a foot plus drifts Sunday evening. When Josh went to work this morning it was negative something degrees, but with the wind chill it felt like -30. Tonight it is -7 degrees but feels like -20. I am thinking it's time to get some longer shorts.
Amelia, Ruby and I went outside and played in the snow today. It is so fluffy and powdery. Ruby kept getting stuck because she kept sinking straight down with each step. I had to do a few steam rollers to get some snow packed down for her to walk on. We had a lot of fun. We lasted maybe 45 minutes outside. We dug a tunnel in the snow bank by our driveway. Then we made a path to play Fox and Hare. Then Ruby decided she had had enough so I took her inside. Amelia and I never got a chance to really play it, though. More on that next... Conrad decided he'd rather play Skylanders and stay warm inside. He is obsessed.
I gave Ruby a nurse maid elbow. I was yanking her coat sleeve off while she was still wearing her gloves... I know I am so stupid!!! But Josh talked me through how to fix it. It was awesome that I could do that and help her get out of her pain. I felt so bad. She just cried and cried and did not like the idea of me touching her arm. She was still a trooper, though. She is the most cooperative and trusting child of mine
Conrad was doing the "careful" walk to the bathroom as nature had just called... Amelia threw a paper airplane at him and he said, "That scared me, it made me almost poop my pants!"
Ruby put her jammies on and asked me if she could go take a nap at 5 PM. Sorry kiddo. 7 PM rolls around and as I am laying her down she puts her hands on my cheeks and we laugh and laugh because whatever sound she makes, I make. She throws her head back and laughs. She is the most pleasant kid.
I made brownies tonight to reward the kids for earning "brownie points." Conrad took it very literally. "If I do X and I earn another brownie point, can I eat 3 brownies?" Amelia has had negative brownie points due to her disposition lately... all of this is according to Grampy Shepherd who is here because he drove us home from Utah. He has been trying to get a kiss from Amelia for 3+ weeks. She is very stubborn towards Grampy. She has been very uncooperative. She decided to help with drying the dinner dishes that Grandpa washed so she earned some brownie points. She ended up with 1 brownie point. Conrad could only eat 2 brownies, but Amelia ate 3. I am a pushover and let her have another two!
