A Leisurely Stroll

What a nice Monday night we had. Our Family Home Evenings are improving. Last week the kids learned about moderation in all things~ we had ice-cream and no 2nds were allowed. So this week we just got out and enjoyed Spring time.

In this picture, C is obviously being obnoxious, and he's obviously done something to make A upset.
By this picture she's cheering up to him.

Ahh, and there you have a nice little snapshot.
Me and my kids. :)
Josh with "Rub" (Conrad) and "Bean."
Ahh, that last picture just makes me happy.

Why I don't post pictures of us around here everyday

because everyday we look like this:
Amelia can be seen looking like someone just dropped her off at my door and left her there...
Conrad's flipping the (parrot) bird.

most of the time we're halfway asleep. And I got my hair do fixed up in kind of a mullet fashion. (Though the hair stylist informed me that it's original name was the Bi-level. I did not know that.)
Tonight:
I am bored. I baby-sat today and don't really care to go clean up what I've already cleaned up a few times already today.
I am thankful for my facebook and blogging buds. I am getting homesick. We will be coming out the latter half of July, and I am thankful for that. I miss interacting with family. My blog and your blogs and facebook (and a few phonecalls) help keep me in touch. I can tell when I am getting homesick because I get ancy to go see what people are saying and doing.
Josh is at a presidency meeting. I can't wait for him to get home so we can watch our Thursday night Funny TV.
I am thinking about my sister-in-law Lea. She's due to have a baby boy the first week of April (the 7th?), but went to the hospital this afternoon ready to have a baby. They drove to Salt Lake only to get turned away at the hospital. Oh the humanity!!! I can't wait to see this kid. He's got 3 older sisters, so I am always going to be on this kid's side. Poor poor kid! :) Exciting things going on over there!!!!

Bookshelf

I bought this bookshelf for $5 at the Goodwill last Saturday. I've been searching for a good deal for a while, but couldn't bring myself to buy anything over $20. I've been wanting one for our kids' books and I knew it would just get hashed anyway. So this is what I found.
Saturday night Josh and I hung out mod-podging brown (ugly) wrapping paper to it. I wanted to put some cute wrapping paper on it, but Josh wasn't too keen on the paper. He had the cool idea to crinkle this brown paper up first, then we could layer it on collage style. In the picture below you see that after we mod-podged the paper, Josh spray painted it black. Pretty darn ugly still.

The best part about the book shelf was Josh's idea to let Conrad have at it with a paintbrush. Josh was a little hesitant to do it, but I think that was the best idea ever! So, on Monday (Josh got off work early) during Amelia's nap we let Conrad paint his and Amelia's bookshelf.
It is still pretty darn ugly!!! But oh what fun Conrad had painting it! It is just going in Conrad''s room. And Josh and I had a great time working on it, too. Sorry I don't have a final final picture, but you get an idea of what it looks like from the picture above.

Growth in Amelia

When did this girl learn to sing?!? All of a sudden she's singing songs. "Rain Rain, go away," and "Baa baa black sheep." She is so talented she'll even sing upside down. Actually I think it helped me record her- because she wasn't so distracted by the camera.

This video was right before bed. Notice the lovely ensemble Conrad is wearing. Thank goodness for pull-ups. (Though Conrad gets a little better everyday.) :)

In the last week Amelia has started putting 2 words together. I know this specifically because we had PAT (Parents as Teachers) come last Tuesday, they asked me if Amelia was putting 2 words together and I told them No. It made me a little nervous when the PAT lady said she should be doing that by now. She's just all of a sudden saying "wink peas" (drink please) and "shoes off." But oh boy does she melt out hearts. Tonight dinner was ready so I announced to come get up to the table. She just came running and climbed up into her booster seat, sat down and waited patiently to get served. When she is unhappy and crying she says, "bed... nigh' nigh.'" Also some of my other favorites are, "Apple... joosh," and "meat...ball," I love it!

mmm mmm mmm mmm

This girl has inherited a trait from my side of the family. We let you know if we like the food. Drives Josh crazy!!!

Oh yeah, and her favorite thing for breakfast is Bran Flakes! Weird!!! She'd take that over Rice Chex or Corn Chex. It's good for her, though, so I can't complain too much. :)

Look down below for a new post I snuck in there from St. Patrick's Day. Just green pictures.

you're yes then you're no

Gotta love living in the middle of the country. Makes watching the weather forecast pretty entertaining.

For example (and I hope I can do my best to paint a picture with words since I didn't take any pictures),

THURSDAY
60 degrees. Sunny. Hot if you wear a jacket. Dry grounds!!!! (you pay attention to that detail when you have kids going in and out of the house). Birds tweetering away (and Amelia yelling, "tweet!!") PERFECT day for an Easter Egg Hunt.

FRIDAY
Rainy evening, turning to slushy snow.

SATURDAY
Snow snow snow.

SUNDAY
morning snow totals were 7 inches!!!!
By the afternoon it was almost all melted.

I love it here! I don't have much to talk about, so when the weather does crazy stuff I enjoy getting to talk about that.

p.s. if you want to see pictures of what I'm talking about see Aby's blog, or Aubre's blog.

Payday!

This note made up for all the angst I have had over my children since they have been born. Isn't that awesome of her?

St. Patrick's Day Dinner

Pirate's Booty (so curious about it after reading about it on Cjane, we got Veggie, it was Ok), green rolls with green PB and green honey, kiwi and green milk.
Conrad wouldn't eat the Kiwi's. I didn't do anything big... I had a Relief Society dinner that night, so the kids had that, and Josh had caesar salad. That really was all we did that day! Nothing big, but still a little fun. :)

Quinoa Chili

Quinoa is one of those super foods, and I've tried a couple of recipes with it (but didn't really love the turnouts). I found this recipe last week, we had it, and it is sooo good!
Check this out.
Quinoa Chili

Good for you vegetarians out there (not me!). Though it seems there are a lot of people all of a sudden trying to eat a lot less meat. This meal is so satisfying. I recommend serving it with the avocados, holy smokes!!! Oh my gosh soooo good!

Getting Shot, and fighting with sticks

I had a dream last night.
I got shot in the stomach by some random criminal over a seat in a carpool.
It didn't hurt. I was scared. We called 911, but they never came. After half an hour we decided to drive to the ER. They looked at it, poured some disinfectant into it and told me to come back when they weren't so busy.

Conrad had a dream last night.
He was fighting some mom's with sticks. Not me. Not Heidi (Luke's mom). But with Hayden's mom. Kate. She didn't have a stick. She had a spoon.
Then Conrad said, just kidding we were playing happy.

Any interpretations?

You know you are a blonde when:

You make your grocery list, get the WIC papers in order, get the kids fed, bathroom visited by the potty training boy, socks and shoes on, kids buckled in the car, drive to Wal-mart, UNload the kids from the van, buckle them into the grocery cart and realize you forgot something. Your grocery list, along with the WIC papers. This was after lunch, before Amelia's nap, so I was hurrying before she would get restless.
Yes, I need my brain.
We went back out to the van and drove home. We shall venture back out in our Venture after the nap. (how appropriate)

On a funny note I told Conrad a couple of days ago, "Conrad you've watched too much TV today." He argued back, "NO, I HAVEN'T!" So I replied, "Ok, Conrad you've watched ENOUGH TV." He fought back again and said, "But those guys on the TV said it was going to come back on again!"

Sure love 'dem

I went to the grocery store hungry, so we came out with some extra sunglasses for the kiddos. At least it's protecting them from cataracts!!!
